LAS PALMERAS, CREVILLETTE.

We had 17 motorhomes.  It was nice to see so many visitors, 1 from NW Wales,3 from West Wessex,2 from Northern Counties and 1 North West and 1 on a “try before you buy”. As usual some vans arrived on Sunday although the rally didn’t start officially until Monday.

Monday afternoon we had the Meet and Greet at 3.00pm where we had curries made by Val in hot, medium and mild, and by jolly the hot was not for the faint hearted!  Pam worked hard getting all the rice prepared. Plenty of other food on the Buffet table including a delicious pasta from Maggie. All this swilled down with copious amount of Wine and Beers, a true Spanish Group Welcome!

On Tuesday we had a visit to the Semana Santa Museum in the town centre where the curator opened up especially for us. He put on a video in English explaining all about the Easter processions which happen every day of the week leading up to Easter Sunday, we were then taken on a guided tour around the museum.  We all marvelled at the magnificent floats used in the parades depicting the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ. Well worth seeing!

Horse racing night went down well with Bob and Dave operating the films and Val and Pam running the bookies!  All for fun I must add!

Some members on Wednesday went on a walk whilst others cycled.  As there was only one scooter Val took Bob shopping! In the evening we had a super group meal in the restaurant.  Always good value at €15 for a 3 course inc coffee. Wine was served around frequently too! We all got our share. Afterwards we drew the Raffle which was well supported. To top it off the restaurant manager gave a bag of fresh oranges to everyone.

Thursday Val took a group on the bus to Elche and went on the tourist train which took them around the town and the famous Palmeras Palm Park. They saw species of palms by the thousand.  A walk around the town afterwards was of interest too.

Evening entertainment was in the Wedding Banqueting Suite which was rather appropriate as Pam and Dave Brack and Sue and Mike Garfield had their wedding anniversaries that day. We all raised a glass to them! The evening continued with an easy quiz from Val and then, always a favourite, Snail Racing! Good fun with many aching arms at the end. It was won by Dave Brack and Tony Childs. The evening concluded with music from singers/ guitarist Bob and Dave playing music to dance too!

All too soon it was coffee morning on Friday for prize giving and goodbyes until next rally at Xeraco on 13th to 17th April.
